A group of University of Maine at Augusta students traveled during winter break to New Orleans, La., to volunteer their time cleaning up outdoor areas, clearing trails, planting trees, processing donated materials and spending time with residents, according to a press release from UMA.

This is the seventh consecutive year UMA has organized a service trip to New Orleans so students can volunteer their time to organizations such as Common Ground Relief, American Cancer Society-New Orleans Hope Lodge, Audubon Nature Center, St. Bernard Wetlands Foundation and The Green Project.
