Skowhegan will celebrate its 9th Annual Maple Festival March 20-22. Activities and events for all ages will include a talent show, pancake breakfast, marshmallow roasting, maple cook-off, and more. The Festival leads up to Maine Maple Sunday where sugarhouses around the state open their doors to the public offering free maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure maple syrup is made. Many farms offer games, activities, treats, sugarbush tours and more.

Maple dining specials: Redington Fairview Cafe will offer maple specials throughout the day, Redington-Fairview General Hospital, 46 Fairview Ave.

Cookie decorating from 3 to 4:30 p.m. a the Main Street Skowhegan office, 93B Water St.

Coloring Pages: Color maple sugaring scenes is set for 3-4:30 p.m. at The Children’s Cottage, 61 Water St.

Ice cream social will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. at Skowhegan Free Public Library, 9 Elm St.

Masonic Child Identifcation Program (CHIP), sponsored by the Somerset Masons. The program gives parents the opportunity to create a kit of identifying materials for their child free of charge. The event will begin at 3 p.m. at Somerset Masonic Lodge, 196 Water St.

Saturday, March 21

Maple Breakfast, locally-sourced breakfast, including homemade whole grain pancakes, Somerset maple syrup, free range sausage, and fresh fruit. Breakfast will be available from 7 to 10 a.m. at Tewksbury Hall, behind the Federated Church.

Maple Marshmallow Roasting will be available at the farmers market to benefit Main Street Skowhegan.

Maple Cook Off: Compete or judge the best maple dessert event from noon to 2 p.m. at Somerset Masonic Lodge, 196 Water St. The dessert with the most votes wins. To enter call Tina White at Crafty Creations at 612-5010 or 313-8256.

Wine, beer and food tasting is set for 5-8 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 196 Water St. The Skowhegan Rotary Club will host the event showcasing local restauranteurs and crafters of wine and beer.

Talent Show will begin at 7 p.m. at the Skowhegan Opera House, 225 Water St. A variety of acts will range from stand-up comedy to music. Suggested donation accepted at the door. To participate, call Midge of Midge’s Theatre Arts Studio at 431-0511.

Sunday, March 22

Maine Maple Sunday, visit maple producers in the area for tours and samples: Tessiers Farm, Chez Lonndorf, and many more.
