AUGUSTA — A jury on Wednesday failed to reach a verdict following a two-day trial of a Chelsea man accused of aggravated assault and domestic violence assault.

The trial of Randy L. Young, 37, started Tuesday in a Kennebec County Superior Court case heard at the Capital Judicial Center.

According to the indictment, the offenses occurred Oct. 5, 2014, in Chelsea. Young had denied accusations he strangled a woman he had been living with off and on.

Young, who was represented by attorney David Geller, testified in his own defense.

The prosecutor was Assistant District Attorney Frayla Schoenfeld.

Young’s next hearing on the charges is set for April 30 in the same court.
