BIDDEFORD — Chelsea resident Courtney Mills of Cony High School was recently awarded a $500 scholarship from the University of New England as part of a high school essay contest that was held by the university’s College of Arts and Sciences, according to a UNE news release.

Contest participants were asked to reflect on the challenges their generation will face and the legacy they will leave behind.

Mills attended the awards ceremony at the UNE’s Biddeford campus on March 25.

The University gave a total of $13,750 in scholarships to winners of the contest, the second annual competition of its kind at UNE.
