Marcia Cook, director of Monmouth/Winthrop Adult and Community Education, handed out diplomas and awards with the help of school board member, Virginia Geyer. The ceremony was held June 8 at the new Charles M. Bailey Public Library in Winthrop.

Julia Sleeper of Tree Street Youth Center in Lewiston was the keynote speaker.

Recognition of students completing the College Transitions program by Christine McEwan included the pinning of National Adult Education Honor Society inductee Laura Broski. HiSET graduates were Caleb Castonguay, Travis Lowell, Susan Gibbs, Laura Browski and Daniel Packard. The College Transition Students were Patrick Francis, Derek Gray, Wilton Neptune, Michelle Ross, Brittany Thomas and Acacia Wilmot.

With 55 family and friends in attendance, 11 students either graduated with their high school diplomas, their HiSET(General Educational Development diploma) equivalency, or completing the College Equivalency program, according to a news release from Monmouth/Winthrop adult edducation program.
