Bossov Ballet Theatre to perform “The Sleeping Beauty” at the Waterville Opera House

PITTSFIELD — Bossov Ballet Theatre at Maine Central Institute will bring the fairytale of “Sleeping Beauty” to life on the Waterville Opera House stage. This enchanting ballet tells the story of Princess Aurora who, bewitched by the evil fairy Carabosse and placed a deep, protective sleep by the kind Lilac Fairy, is awakened by her brave prince. With music by Russian composer Tchaikovsky, choreography by Marius Petipa and staging by Bossov Ballet Artistic Director Natalya Getman, this beautiful take on the iconic ballet will enthrall the whole family.

Performances are set for 7 p.m. Friday, July 24, and 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for youth and senior, or $40 for a family (two adults and two youths). For tickets, call the Opera House box office at 873-7000 or visit www.operahouse.org.

Led by Artistic Director Natalya Getman, Bossov Ballet Theatre at Maine Central Institute is New England’s premier Russian ballet academy. The program offers students a unique opportunity to study classical ballet as part of the academic curriculum, allowing them to earn full academic credit for ballet training. Students who complete the program are uniquely positioned either to matriculate to an outstanding college or join a professional ballet company.
