The Waterville Area Women’s Contemporary Club has been awarded the Women’s Leadership Award by the United Way for its long history of public service and creating to support disadvantaged women and children. The club works to make a difference for women and children in the local communities.

Past donations have included the Homeless Shelter, the Greater Waterville Area Food Bank, the Opera House, Domestic Violence Relief, the Waterville Library and scholarship assistance for varies camps for children in the local area.

The club recently raised $5,717 for the Youth Homelessness Initiative in its third annual benefit dance. This year’s host was T&B Tavern in Waterville, and all proceeds were raised through ticket sales, raffles, silent auction and monetary donations from members of the community as well as many local businesses.
