BANGOR — A Maine man charged with killing his girlfriend and her two children last year has been indicted on a gross sexual assault charge.
Twenty-seven-year-old Keith Coleman of Garland pleaded not guilty in March to three counts of murder in the deaths of 36-year-old Christina Sargent, 10-year-old Duwayne Coke and 8-year-old Destiny Sargent.
WLBZ-TV reports that a grand jury on Wednesday brought an additional charge of gross sexual assault, which allegedly occurred at the time of the killings.
Investigators say the bodies were found Dec. 20 in a mobile home Coleman shared with the victims.
A court affidavit says Coleman told investigators he chased down and strangled the children because they had witnessed their mother’s death.
Documents also say there had been domestic violence problems between the couple before the killings.
