A weekend fire badly damaged a home on Windsor Road in Chelsea.

Fire Chief Shawn Ramage said nobody lives in the mobile home at 21 Windsor Road and that nobody was injured in the blaze.

The fire caused extensive damage in the kitchen area near the middle of the mobile home, and there was heavy smoke and water damage throughout, Ramage said.

“It’s probably not going to be salvageable,” he said.

Ramage said the home, which is owned by an estate, is insured.

An investigator from the Office of the State Fire Marshal was called to look into the fire’s source. Ramage did yet know the results of that investigation, but said the fire was not considered suspicious.

The fire broke out around 7:15 p.m. Saturday. Flames were visible from the outside when firefighters arrived, but the flames were quickly extinguished.

“I think within seven or eight minutes we had it knocked down,” Ramage said.

Gardiner fire responded with Chelsea firefighters.
