WILTON — About $2,000 in usable product was stolen from a nursery and landscaping business that grows medical marijuana early Wednesday morning, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Police have no suspects but an investigation into the burglary is ongoing. According to Wilcox, entire plants were not stolen; rather, the thieves took the time to remove the usable marijuana buds from Rocky Hill Landscaping’s crop.

Wilcox said that the burglary happened early Wednesday morning and that the intruders were in and out quickly, though Rocky Hill Landscaping has a video security system that the investigators hope will provide them information.

“They have security measures, and they are a very responsible business,” Wilcox said.

Rocky Hill Landscaping has state licensing to grow medical marijuana in addition to its established business as a nursery and landscaping operation, which has been in Wilton for 20 years, Wilcox said.

Rocky Hill Landscaping employees declined to comment on the burglary.
