Two people were injured slightly Wednesday afternoon in a single-car crash on Byron Road in Weld.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Amy Taylor, 53, of Skowhegan, and Logan Taylor, 21, from Athens, were taken to Rumford Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and probably were released, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols said Thursday morning.

Amy Taylor was driving the 2002 Mercury Sable and Logan Taylor was the passenger. The report didn’t specify whether or how the two were related.

According to Nichols, the car was headed east on Byron Road toward Weld when it skidded off the road and into some trees. Nichols said the Taylors told investigators they were testing the vehicle’s tires on the dirt road. The car was damaged considerably but might not be a total loss, Nichols said.
