SKOWHEGAN — A North Anson man has been indicted by a Somerset County grand jury on child sexual assault charges dating back to 2008.

Phillip Dickey, 73, of New Portland Road, is charged with two counts of gross sexual assault of a child under 12 and with three counts of unlawful sexual contact with a child under 12. The events are alleged to have happened in North Anson between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2009, according to court records.

Documents show that Sgt. Peter Michaud, of Maine State Police Troop C Barracks in Skowhegan, was alerted in August to a “sex abuse case involving multiple victims.” One of the victims told her mother about Dickey after she saw a body safety video at her school.

There are allegedly three victims ranging in age from 6 to 8 years old at the time, according to an arrest affidavit filed in court on Oct. 16 by state police Detective Bryant Jacques.

Dickey remains at the Somerset County Jail in East Madison in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $50,000 in property.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt but is an indication that enough evidence is present in a case to proceed with a trial.
