A Blue Hill man was arrested and charged Saturday with trafficking in heroin after police said they found nearly 100 grams of heroin and $1,800 in his car.

Police said investigators learned Friday that Justin Horton, 29, would be traveling out of state to obtain a large amount of heroin for resale in Hancock County.

About 4 a.m. Saturday, Hancock County sheriff’s deputies, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officers and Bucksport police stopped Horton in his vehicle in Bucksport as he was returning to Blue Hill. The investigators found the heroin, enough for about 1,000 dosage units, and the cash hidden in the vehicle, police said in a news release. Each dosage unit sells for about $30 in Hancock County.

Police said the charges against Horton may be elevated after a review by the state prosecutors.
