CATC to host local SKILLS USA tomorrow

AUGUSTA — Capital Area Technical Center will host its 2016 Local SKILLS USA Competition from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the center. An awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in Cony Auditorium, all are welcome.

Students will compete in more than 18 different contest in areas such as welding, milling/turning, commercial baking, carpentry, graphic design, computer technician, architecture design, electrical wiring, plumbing and heating.

Students can also demonstrate their technical knowledge and leadership skills in the following categories: quiz bowl, job interview, medical math and medical terminology. During these competitions, students will compete against fellow classmates: allowing students to build confidence in their abilities and express themselves in a professional environment.

Top placing contestants will qualify for the statewide competition set for March 4 in Bangor.
