The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday it has taken the man suspected of robbing a Burnham convenience store last week into custody.
Chief Deputy Jason Trundy said in an email Saturday that officers had arrested David W. Pedone, 21, of East Newport, on Friday night. Pedone was wanted on a class A robbery charge in connection with the Jan. 8 robbery of the Patterson Store at the intersection of Pond, South Horseback and Winnecook roads.
The store owner reported the robbery around 3 a.m. Jan. 8. He told the sheriff’s office he was knocked down by a group of people during the robbery but was not injured.
No weapons were used during the incident, but the thieves got away with store merchandise, according to the sheriff’s office.
Trundy said more information on the ongoing investigation would be released next week.
