The Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce recently announced it has been awarded a Tourism Enterprise Marketing Grant by the Maine Office of Tourism for fiscal year 2016. The funding will help support a website overhaul, SEO responsive design and mobilization to address changes in online search engines that make these updates crucial for tourism-related businesses and to optimize the website given the proliferation of the use of mobile devices by tourists, according to a news release from the chamber.

“We worked very diligently on our grant proposal and are extremely pleased to have been awarded this grant,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karen A. Ogulnick said in the release. “This grant will enable us to optimize our website to function seamlessly across mobile phones, tablets, laptops and desktops, enhance search engine optimization (SEO) and greatly improve the user experience for visitors considering the Rangeley region as a destination. It’s a very competitive market and we have so much to offer. Our website is often the first impression people have of the area, so we want our website to be a compelling reflection of the area itself.”

The chamber is in the initial planning stages of the project and plans to launch the new site by the third quarter of 2016.
