FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public Library, and the Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset counties along with the Beloit Poetry Journal will host a poetry contest.

Participants can submit up to three poems, each poem must be less than 60 lines.

The three age categories are 16 and younger, 17 to 25, and 25 and older.

The contest opens Feb. 2. Poems should be dropped off at the Farmington Public Library; submission deadline is midnight March 8. Be sure to include your name, contact information and age category on the back of each poem.

Winners will be announced March 31. There are three prizes for each category: First prize is $50, second is $25 and third is a $20 gift certificate to the literacy volunteers book sale.

A public reading of the winning poems will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Farmington Public Library.
