A Stockholm man was killed Saturday night in a snowmobile crash on Interconnecting Trail System 83 in New Sweden.

John Anderson, 32, was traveling north from Caribou when his snowmobile drifted to the left side of the trail and struck several trees about 9 p.m. Anderson was killed instantly, the Maine Warden Service said.

Anderson was traveling with Reighel Waugh, 27, of Caribou. The warden service said the two had been snowmobiling all day and were making a northwesterly loop back to Caribou. Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation, the warden service said.

This was the second snowmobile fatality in Maine this season.
