Laurent and Jeannine (Rodrigue) Beland from Augusta celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on May 1st at the Cony Flatiron Senior Residence. They were married on March 26, 1951 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta with Rev. Joseph O. Casavant performing the ceremony.
Jeannine was a homemaker, house cleaner, caterer, and waitress at Holiday Inn. Laurent was employed by Old Scotch Soda Company, Frank Pomerleau, Statler Tissue and Clark Buick.
The couple has six children: Robert and Margaret Beland, David and Lynn Beland, Brian and Denise Beland and Bill Beland, all of Augusta; Mark and Dessie Beland of Pooler, GA; and the late Michela and Jack Leavitt of Augusta. They also have 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Guests attended the celebration from Maine, New Hampshire, Georgia, Texas and Florida.
