NEWCASTLE — The Tapestry Singers, directed by Beth Preston, will present their spring concerts “The Road Home” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, and 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Second Congregational Church, 51 Main St.
The Road Home theme will be represented in a variety of works including Ola Gjeilo’s The Lake Isle, a lyrical contemporary piece featuring David Martin on guitar and Dean Stein on violin. Among other pieces are “Serenade to Music” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Bob Chilcott’s Furusato, a collection of Japanese children’s songs put to western-style music, “Wanting Memories” by Ysaye Barnwell, and “The Road Home” by Stephen Paulus.
Vocal soloists for the concerts are Nancy Grace Dersham, John Adams and Lincoln Academy senior Sam Bailey. Hana Hirano and Nancy Gault helped the chorus with the Japanese lyrics.
Tickets cost $15, free for students. Tickets are available at Sherman’s Maine Coast Bookshop in Damariscotta, Now You’re Cooking in Bath, or at the door.
