The Maine Technology Institute awarded grants totaling $21,303 to five organizations, which leveraged $27,876 in matching funds.

Casco Bay Butter Co. of Scarborough, Colby College in Waterville and Imageworks of Portland were all awarded Tech Start grants from MTI, which stimulates research and development activity among Maine startups. Casco Bay Butter Co. was awarded $1,503 and provided an equal match; Colby College was awarded $5,000 and provided an $11,463 match; and Imageworks received $5,000, which leveraged $5,100 in private financing.

MTI also awarded two Kickstarter grants, which help companies access federal funding. Delta Dewatering of South Portland received $4,800 and provided an equal match while Montalvo Corp. of Gorham received $5,000 and provided a $5,100 match. The awards were made in May. The deadline for the next round of Tech Start applications is July 7.
