Winthrop and Monmouth will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks and several activities this holiday.

• Monmouth’s Economic Development Committee will host a Beach Party beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at Cochnewagon Lake. Festivities will include a disc jockey, bounce house, local food vendors and fireworks beginning at 9:30 p.m. Rain date will be Sunday, July 3.

• Winthrop’s holiday events will begin Monday, July 4, with the Friends on the 4th 5K road race at 8 a.m. at the town beach on Memorial Drive. After the race, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed, there will be a pickle ball demonstration with the Winthrop Plays Outside organization at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Alfred Maxwell Post 40. From 4-9 p.m., the Legion will host a chicken barbecue and sell food from their Veterans of Foreign Wars food truck. A dunk tank, music, games and a kayak raffle also are planned. The day will conclude with fireworks over Maranacook Lake at dusk. Rain date for the fireworks, which are sponsored by the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, will be Saturday, Aug. 20.
