A Florida man who reportedly rented a car on July 1 in Rhode Island and was due to arrive Sunday in Hartland has not been heard from and is considered missing or overdue, according to police.
James Ross, chief deputy of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, said police agencies are on the lookout for Francis Phillips, 66, of Pensacola, Florida. Friends and family members have been trying to contact Phillips since July 3 when he did not show up at a family member’s camp in Hartland as scheduled, Ross said.
He reportedly flew on July 1 to T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island, where he rented a tan Ford Fusion with South Carolina plates MIC 926.
Phillips fueled up his rental car on July 3 in Lexington, Massachusetts, Ross said.
“Mr. Phillips may have age-induced dementia issues; thus our concern for his well-being,” Ross said in an email Thursday to the Morning Sentinel.
The sheriff’s department asked that anyone who may have seen the car or Phillips to call 474-9591 or any local law enforcement agency.
