The Jefferson Historical Society has changed its Sunday, Sept. 18, scheduled meeting because of illness.

Members and friends will instead take a special tour of the Matthews Museum on the grounds of Union Fair in Union. The museum has more than 10,000 items on exhibit. Among the exhibits are several wagons belonging to Ralph Bond, a special Moxie display, items related to Gov. Frederick G. Payne who lived in Jefferson and more.

Those who wish to carpool are asked to be at the Old Jefferson Town House for a 1 p.m. departure to Union. Others can meet the group at 1:30 p.m. at the museum when the doors will be open.

A small fee will be charged for the museum. For more information or to register to attend, call 549-5258.
