MADISON — Portland Comedy Co-Op will take the stage at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the Somerset Abby, 98 Main St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Co-op will bring headlining comedian Mike Johnson. Born and raised in Waterville, Johnson is a 10-year veteran of stand-up comedy. For 5 years he performed all over New England before taking his act to Chicago in late 2011. For the next three and a half years he settled into the Chicago comedy scene performing all over the city at local open mics and eventually become one of the 8 cast members of the popular independent showcase in Chicago, Make Yourself at Home.

It was during this time Johnson had his most success in Chicago and quickly became well known on the scene whether it was appearing in other local showcases or being mentioned in the Chicago Tribune. Eventually he returned to Maine in late 2014 and is currently based in Portland where he engages audiences all over New England with high-energy storytelling about growing up in Maine, life in Chicago and the reasons he moved back.

The featured comedian for the night will be musical comedian Aimee Poulin. Most recently, she recorded a music video for her song “OOB,” which lampoons the popular tourist destination and has been viewed more than 50 thousand times.

This event is all-ages, however, keep in mind it is a one and a half hour show and that adult content may be covered.

Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online at, in person at Pizzarama in Madison or at the door the night of the show.
