WALES — An Empty Bowls supper will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Wales Presbyterian Church on Route 132.

The first 50 attendees can choose their own pottery bowl. All participants will select from an assortment of soups, salads, breads and desserts. There will also be a silent auction of pottery creations. Bowls are primarily provided by Watershed Ceramic Arts, and music will be provided by Michael Ladd.

The event is to raise awareness about hunger and raise funds for Hunger Prevention services, the Rural Community Action Ministry.

Each year, in November, Empty Bowls events are held across the country. Each has a different approach, but the goal is the same — to increase the public’s knowledge about hunger in their local communities.

In Maine, 24 percent of children and 23 percent of senior citizens are food insecure.

Cost is $10 per person or $25 for a family of five.
