BANGOR – The University of Maine women’s basketball team beat Division II Stonehill College 74-54 in an exhibition game Sunday at the Cross Insurance Center.
Laia Sole, a 6-foot-2 freshman from Spain, led the Black Bears with 21 points. Another freshman, 6-1 Fanny Wadling, added 11 and 5-10 junior Tanesha Sutton scored 10. Maine’s one returning starter, 5-8 senior Sigi Koizar, added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Black Bears will open their regular season Nov. 11 at home against Purdue.
