The Augusta Police Department recently announced its top three winners of its Operation Pumpkin program. The winners, with each more than 100-plus “likes” for their pumpkins, were Noah Dow, Iris Emond and Ryleigh Miranda.

The program was for the children in the Glenridge Drive neighborhood to help spread goodwill between the area and its department. On Oct. 13, Sgt. Christian J. Behr, along with officer, handed out pumpkin coloring pictures to approximately 25 children to color and return. All who returned a colored picture received a pumpkin to carve or color.

Each pumpkin was then posted on the department’s several social media sites, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. People then voted by giving them “likes” on their picture on Facebook.

The top three winners who received the most likes were given the chance to Trick or Treat with a cop or have the costume of their choice. All chose to trick or treat with a cop on Halloween.

Stevensons strawberry farm donated the pumpkins.
