Police are investigating a report of a robbery early Thursday on Water Street, but the person who reported being a victim isn’t cooperating, the police chief said.
The robbery was reported at 12:28 a.m. on Water Street, according to the daily dispatch log from the Somerset County Regional Communications Center.
Skowhegan police Chief Donald Bolduc said in emails that the victim mentioned something about criminal mischief involving a guitar. The chief said the robbery account may be unfounded, but police continue to investigate.
“Victim is also being uncooperative,” Bolduc said.
He said the victim reported that the robbery happened on the Walking Bridge over the Kennebec River, connecting Water Street, downtown, with the South Side of Skowhegan. Bolduc said the Police Department’s night shift will pick up the investigation.
