An Augusta man was arrested and charged with several sex-related offenses after police executed a search warrant Friday afternoon.
Arthur James Jones, 57, was being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash bail. He was charged with two counts of gross sexual assault Class A, aggravated assault Class B, unlawful sexual contact Class C and unlawful sexual touching Class D.
Augusta Police Department officers and detectives searched 7 Waldo St. about 1 p.m. Friday looking for Jones, who was located and taken into custody by Officer Mike Unterkoefler.
Major Jared Mills said the alleged crimes involved a female who was known to the suspect. He did not disclose any other information.
