DAMARISCOTTA — The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop will open in its new location at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 17 Backstreet Landing, according to a news release from Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop.

“We’re excited to welcome customers into our spacious new shop. We have a lot more room to display books, and we enjoy beautiful views of the river. It’s a cozy, comfortable, and inviting place,” Bensen said in the release.

During January, when volunteers were moving the contents of the shop, organizers were not able to accept donations. Now donated books may be left at the Backstreet shop whenever a volunteer is there to receive them. Books should not be left outside, to avoid weather damage.

The shop will be open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Thursdays the shop will stay open until 7 p.m.

The book shop is a major source of income for Skidompha Public Library. All items are donated, staff members are volunteers, and all proceeds go to the library.
