Oakland-based Regional School Unit 18 will participate in the Summer Food Service Program, a USDA-funded program that provides free meals to children and teens during the summer months to prevent childhood hunger while school is not in session.

Menus can be found online at www.rsu18.org. The free summer meals will be provided at the following sites and times:

• China Primary School, 763 Lakeview Drive, China, will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday July 10 through Aug. 4. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8 a.m. only Monday through Thursday.

• Williams Elementary School, 55 Pleasant St., Oakland, will serve breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday June 26 through Aug. 4. Meals will not be offered on July 4 in recognition of Independence Day.

• Messalonskee Middle School, 33 School Bus Drive, Oakland, will serve breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 to 11:50 a.m. Monday through Thursday July 10 through Aug. 3.

• Atwood Primary School, 19 Heath St., Oakland, will serve lunch from 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday July 24 through Aug. 24.

• Messalonskee High School, 131 Messalonskee High Drive, Oakland, will serve breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday July 10 through Aug. 2.

There are no income requirements or need for registration. Participants do not need to be a resident of Oakland or China. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
