The town of Pittsfield plans to shut off water service to several streets Monday while crews work on a project and then is issuing a boil-water order for affected residents afterward.
According to a news release Wednesday from Pittsfield Public Works, water service will be shut off Monday for the following streets: Detroit Street, Lincoln Street, Leonard Street, Hunnewell Avenue, Davis Street, Washington Street, Cottage Street, Mill Court and North Main Street, from Detroit Street to the intersection with Madawaska Avenue.
When water is restored, only residents on the affected streets will be required to boil water intended for consumption. Officials advised customers to boil water for at least five minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing food, brushing teeth or consuming water in other ways.
Officials said anyone with questions should call Scott Noble at Pittsfield Water Works at 487-3136.
