Winthrop chamber breakfast to offer tips on stronger management, leadership

Priscilla Hansen Mahoney of Blazing Trails Coaching will offer tips and advice on becoming a strong manager and leader at the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber breakfast scheduled for Thursday.

“I help leaders see the big picture when they’re working with a group,” said Mahoney, who is also a registered Maine guide, in a news release. “I teach employers that it’s not just about telling someone to do something; it’s about encouraging them to do the job well.”

Mahoney also helps leaders and managers identify their strengths and weaknesses, along with teaching them how to use the best form of communication and practice active listening.

For more information, consult blazingtrailscoaching.com or contact the chamber at 377-8020 or info@winthropchamber.org.

The breakfast is to be held from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. at the Winthrop Commerce Center Community Room, 16 Commerce Plaza, in Winthrop. The public is welcome. The event costs $7 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Mills Foundation gets $30,000 in grant, donation from Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo has given the Travis Mills Foundation a $25,000 grant to support the work of the Veterans Retreat in Rome and an additional $5,000 to buy as many of the items as possible that are on the foundation’s Amazon Wish List, according to the banking and financial services company.

Items on the wish list included water equipment for the adaptive sports that the wounded veterans participate in, dog life jackets for some of the service animals and diaper canisters for the families with babies and toddlers.

Portland-based employees of Wells Fargo met Mills, visited the retreat and presented the $30,000 donation.
