The Rangeley Oktoberfest Weekend is set for Sept. 28 through Oct. 1. Activities range from a Brat & Strudel contest to Stein Hoisting competitions to special menus at restaurants in Rangeley and Oquossoc to the Maine Forestry Museum’s 25th Annual Apple Festival.

The weekend will kick off with the annual Brat & Strudel Contest from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at The Rangeley Tavern. Entrants will put forth their best brat and strudel and the public is invited to taste samples from all participants. Attendee will receive a free commemorative Rangeley Oktoberfest mug and tastings of all brat and strudel entries. Winners will earn bragging rights based on voting by both the public and a panel of expert judges. Brat and strudel entrants confirmed at press time include the following: Blue Orchid, Forks in the Air, Inner Eye, Just Desserts, Moose Alley, Rangeley IGA, Sarge’s Pub and The Shed.

Thursday, Sept. 28

Kids Harvest Party is set for 5-7 p.m. at Classic Provisions. The event is for children of all ages. There will be fall crafts and candy apple making.

Stein Hoisting Semifinals is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Rangeley Inn & Tavern, 2443 Main St. in Rangeley and at 7 p.m. at Twisted Willow, 2303 Main St.

Friday, Sept. 29

SoJo’s Scarecrow Ball will be ongoing. Take a stroll down High Street and cast a vote for your favorite scarecrow at Classic Provisions, 2485 Main St. in Rangeley.

Stein Hoisting Semifinals is set for 6 p.m. at Bald Mountain Camps, 125 Bald Mountain Road in Oquossoc; at 7 p.m. at 45th Parallel, 17 Rumford Road in Oquossoc; at 8 p.m. at Moose Alley, 2809 Main St. in Rangeley; and at 9 p.m. at Sarge’s, 2454 Main St. in Rangeley.

Music will be provided at 9 p.m. at Moose Alley, 2809 Main St. in Rangeley.

Saturday, Sept. 30

Maine Forestry Museum’s 25th Annual Apple Festival is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main St. in Rangeley.

Horse and wagon rides will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Alpine Shop, 2504 Main St. in Rangeley.

Sam Adams Beer Chugging Contest & German Beer Hall Lunch is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. at Moose Alley, 809 Main St. in Rangeley.

Stein Hoisting Finals is set for 8 p.m. at Moose Alley, 2809 Main St. in Rangeley.

Sunday, Oct. 1

Pumpkin carrying, apple tossing and other events will be ongoing at Rangeley Health & Wellness / Rangeley Fitness Center, Dallas Hill Road in Rangeley.
