GARDINER — Savvy Caregiver training, for those caring for a family member or friend with dementia, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 16 through Nov. 20, at the Alzheimer’s Care Center, 154 Dresden Ave.
In this 12-hour education/training program, participants can learn about dementia and how it affects people and their behaviors. Program leaders will share tips and strategies for interacting and communicating with someone who suffers from dementia, as well as how to understand and manage challenging behaviors.
Those who attend also can develop a sense of confidence in caregiving and learn how to care for themselves.
The program is sponsored by MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Long Term Care and Spectrum Generations.
