Christmas at historic New England’s Nickels-Sortwell House is set for noon to 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Dec. 8-10, at 121 Main St. in Wiscassset.

Participants can experience 19th century-style Christmas with a 21st century flair. The event will feature a self-guided tour of the first floor of the Federal-style mansion, decorated for the holidays with greens for inspiration and splendor by the Garden Club of Wiscasset, Water Lily Flowers and Gifts and Michelle Peele Floral & Home Design.

Architectural details in each room include exquisitely carved moldings and grand fireplaces custom-made, 200 years ago, by local carpenters for Captain Nickels’ showplace. Personal photography is welcome.

After touring the house, look for the one-horse open sleigh in front of the Nickels-Sortwell House Barn. Step inside for a warm drink and refreshments.

Cost is $5 for Wiscasset residents and Historic New England members or $10 for non-members.
