“Nest,” a body of work by Matt Demers, will be on view Jan. 25 through April 7 at The Leonard R. Craig Gallery, 42 Depot St. in Unity.
An opening reception is scheduled for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25; refreshments will be provided.
The exhibit explores and interprets the composition of wasp and hornet nests in Demers’ personal style of decisive brushstrokes, collage and abstract mark making.
“I’ve always been drawn to the forms, textures, patterns and energy of these natural sculptural objects. I wanted to amplify those elements that I love to create my own unique objects while remaining true to their original forms,” Demers said, according to a news release Ben Potter, professor of art/curator of the Gallery.
Demers is a visual artist working out of his studio in Gardiner.
