Occupants of a mobile home in Gardiner escaped injury when it burned Tuesday evening.

Lt. Barry Dustin, of the Gardiner Fire Department, said Wednesday that the home at 59 Middle St. was fully engulfed in fire when firefighters arrived. Middle Street runs between Highland Avenue and Spring Street.

Dustin had few details about the blaze on Wednesday, but said the department had sought support from the American Red Cross for the people living there.

It was not clear who occupied the mobile home. A phone call to a number published for the West Gardiner owner was not answered Wednesday.

Fire departments from surrounding communities assisted at the fire scene. Dustin said the state fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze, which is standard when a cause cannot be determined immediately.
