Signs of the Seasons training sessions for volunteer citizen scientists interested in tracking seasonal changes affecting the plants, animals and people of Maine.

The following free events are sponsored by University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant in Orono:

• UMaine Extension Knox-Lincoln counties office, Waldoboro, 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7.

• Belfast Free Library, Belfast, 1:30-4 p.m. Friday, March 9.

• Gilsland Farm Audubon Center, Falmouth, 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29.

• Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Boothbay, 12:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24.

Training with an emphasis on monitoring intertidal rockweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) is scheduled with additional sessions possible:

• Seacoast Science Center, Rye, New Hampshire, 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 28.
