The LaDama’s original compositions sung in Spanish, Portuguese and English will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Strand Theatre, 345 Main St. in Rockland.

LaDama is an ensemble of women musicians from across the Americas. Their barreling grooves and effortless vocals draw on specific South American genres: driving maracatu from northeast Brazil, folksy joropo from the high plains of Venezuela, and Colombia’s irresistible dance music cumbia, pumped up with a battery of Brazilian percussion.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
