The Kennebec Valley Community Action Program will offer the following classes for the 2018 spring/summer season in Kennebec County:

The First Five Years: A series of four sessions will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, May 29 through June 19, at Winthrop Congregational Church, 10 Bowdoin St., in Winthrop. Participants can learn discipline methods, how to prevent tantrums, establishing routines and more. This video and discussion program is designed for parents of children from birth to 5 years old.

Community Nuturing: A 10-session program set for 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 22 through July 24, at KVCAP, 22 Armory St., in Augusta.

Classes will cover the brain development of children and teens, stages of growth for infants and toddlers, and will review new tools for communication, or dealing with stress.

Active Parenting Now: This six-session video and discussion program for parents and care providers of children ages 5-12 will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, May 16 to June 30, at KVCAP, 97 Water St., in Waterville.

The class can teach a better way to handle some of those daily parenting challenges. The program is designed to help raise responsible children by using effective discipline techniques and encouragement skills.

All classes are free, registration is required.
