AUGUSTA — Cony High School recently announced the following students were named Girls and Boys State delegates for 2018.

GIRLS STATE:

Taylor Davis is the daughter of Karen Davis, of Augusta. Davis is a member of the National Honor Society, the German Club, GAPP and serves as a Peer Pal at school. Davis also is on the varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams, as well as the unified basketball team. She volunteers Helping Hands, Ram Sports Camps and at Togus Veterans Hospital.

Zinaida Gregor is the daughter of Tatiana and Anatoly Gregor, of Augusta. Gregor serves as German Club president and captain of the varsity track team. Gregor is a member of the National Honor Society, indoor track, cross country track, math team and the Outing Club. Gregor volunteers at the Gray Birch Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Center in Augusta.

Talia Jorgensen is the daughter of Mindy and Todd Jorgensen, of Augusta. Jorgensen is a member of the varsity soccer and swim teams, as well as the Latin Club. She is a volunteer for community dinners, and walks/runs for breast cancer awareness.

Kami Lambert is the daughter of Kimberly Lambert, of Augusta. Lambert is a member of the varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams, as well as Art Club and Latin Club. Lambert gives back to her community by participating in the Day of Caring, and volunteers at Togus, field hockey camp and at her church.

Gabrielle Low is the daughter of Therese Cahill and Ryan Low, of Winthrop. Low is a member of National Honor Society, as well as varsity track and swim teams. She is a volunteer at the YMCA and for local childcare.

Allyson Waller is the daughter of Cindy and John Waller, of Augusta.

Waller is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Bible Quiz, Cony Madrigals and Chizzle Wizzle. She also is on varsity track and cross country teams. Waller volunteers at FCA Camp and Bible Camp, at a nursing home, and through her worship team at church. Waller also serves as leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Cony.

BOYS STATE

Michael Awley is the son of Tiffany and Jim Awley, of Gardiner. Awley is a member of varsity swim and track teams, and participates in Boy Scouts. He volunteers his time with Togus car shows, Wreaths Across America and rail trail half marathons.

Matthew Birch is the son of Peter and Carol Birch, of Windsor. Birch is a member of the varsity track team, and participates in Madrigals. He volunteers at the William S. Cohen Community Center, and works a part time job.

Alex Farkas is the son of Sheila and Tom Farkas, of Pittson. Farkas is a member of the varsity cross country, track and swim teams, as well as National Honor Society, math team and Cony Madrigals. Farkas was selected to All-State and Jazz All-State Choirs. He volunteers with the National Honor Society, and plays music at community events.

Tim Flannery is the son of Denise Beland and Robert Flannery, of Augusta. Flannery is a member of the varsity soccer, lacrosse and swim teams. He also participates in Key Club, Spanish Club, Chizzle Wizzle and Youth Ministry. Flannery volunteers at MaineGeneral.

Jacob Mills is the son of Paige and Jason Mills, of Augusta. Mills is a member of the varsity football, swim, lacrosse and track and field teams. He also is a member of National Honor Society. Mills volunteers at Kennebec Valley Humane Society.

Nicholas Mills is the son of Debra and Jeff Mills, of Chelsea. Mills is a member of the varsity football, wrestling and lacrosse teams. Mills also is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Club and math team. Mills volunteers as an assistant coach of the middle school wrestling team, and also has volunteered at the Travis Mills Veterans Retreat and at the William S. Cohen Community Center.

Caleb Richardson is the son of Toni and Stephen Richardson, of Augusta. Richardson is a member of the varsity cross country, track and swim teams, as well as math team and the National Honor Society and a member of the Boy Scouts, where he has earned Eagle Scout status. He volunteers at the annual Togus car show.

Hunter Scholz is the son of Kimberly and Stephen Scholz, of Augusta. Scholz is a member of concert band and jazz band, and participates in break dancing, tap and jazz. Scholz is also a member of the Civil Rights team, Chizzle Wizzle and Spanish Club. He volunteered this year in Guatemala through Safe Passage. Scholz attended Seeds of Peace Camp, HOBY 2017, and Envision National Security 2017.

The Cony High School sponsors include American Legion Post 2, American Legion Post 2 Women’s Auxiliary, American Legion Post 205, American Legion Post 205 Women’s Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution — Koussinoc Chapter, Augusta Rotary and Kennebec Savings Bank.
