WATERVILLE — The state Department of Transportation is scheduled to close Thayer Memorial Bridge over Messalonskee Stream on Gilman Street for repairs from June 23 through the end of August.

The project will include extensive sub-structure and bridge deck rehabilitation, as well as reconstruction of approaches, sidewalks and curbing. The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic during that period, but will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists. Activity for moving equipment, material and signs will be visible during the first several days in June.
