Maine Event Comedy will present Steve Scarfo at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center, 280 Water St in Gardiner. Jody Sloane will be the evening’s featured comedian along with host Mark Turcotte.
Scarfo, a veteran of the Boston comedy scene, was noticed by The Boston Globe at his first performance. His high energy coupled with his bizarre viewpoint has kept audiences laughing throughout New England. He’s performed at Comedy Connections in Boston and Portland, Nick’s Comedy Stop, Laugh Boston, Comix at Foxwoods, and with Laugh Riots Productions. He’s worked with national acts including Dave Coulier, Victoria Jackson and Jeff Dunham. A trained actor, Scarfo also has appeared in the A&E real-life drama Caesars 24/7.
Sloane cut her entertainment teeth doing her sit-down shtick as a cheeky “Conducktor” named Penny Wise on the Boston Duck Tours. She logged over 4,000 tours, leading her to be equally entertaining as stand-up comedian. She’s now a regular at esteemed comedy venues, including, Headliners Comedy Clubs throughout New England, Gotham Comedy Club in New York City and Comix at Mohegan Sun. She’s impishly perverse and will have you convinced that in the darkest corners of truth is comedy.
Turcotte was a recent selection to Boston, Cleveland and North Carolina comedy festivals and will soon make his national television debut on Gotham Comedy Live.
