The Whitefield Library and Community Center will open its doors for the season at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, with an ice cream social and children’s story hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 8 Lancaster Road in Whitefield.

This is the first in an ongoing series featuring Stories Around the World to travel around the world through stories, crafts and more. Record each journey from North America to India, Africa to China, and Scandinavia to Brazil on a giant world map. Those who attend can help create art from the countries explored to decorate the library walls and learn more about world geography during the Whitefield Library’s first summer story hour.

An adult book club will be added to the programming this season. Beginning May 22, all bibliophiles are invited from 6 to 7 p.m. at the library.

The library is open free to all Whitefield residents and surroundings towns.

Library hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m.-noon and 5-7 p.m. Wednesdays.

For more information, call the library at 446-7443 and visit whitefieldlibrary.org.
