Jarlath Henderson will perform at 7:3o p.m. Friday, May 17, at Strand Theatre, 345 Main St. in Rockland.
The multi-instrumentalist and masterful balladeer from Northern Ireland is best known as a remarkable player of uilleann pipes and whistles. The three-time ‘All-Ireland Champion’ piper revives traditional songs, like murder ballads and love songs with a somber intensity and sublime original arrangements.
Henderson combines modern, rhythmically intense, percussive electronics to his traditional singing style to create signature sound that is all his own.
He will be joined by Innes Watson (fiddle, guitar) and Duncan Lyall (double bass).
Tickets cost $17 in advance, or $20 the day of the show. L
