WINSLOW — Residents may begin conducting business in person at the town office beginning next week, according to a news release from the town.

Starting Monday, March 15, the Winslow Town Office will reopen to the public to pay taxes and sewer bills, register vehicles, obtain vital records, and get marriage, sports and dog licenses. The town office has been closed to the public since early December due to the coronavirus pandemic, with town officials working in the office and offering curbside service and a drop box.

“The doors to the Town Office will remain locked in order to control entry to the building. Customers wishing to conduct business in person will go to the Benton Avenue door by the Fire Department and ring the bell,” the release read. “A clerk will come out to get them when a station becomes available.”

Building permits, code enforcement, welfare assistance, notary services, and the assessor, town clerk or the town manager are available by appointment.

Visitors will also be asked COVID-19 screening questions. There will be one-way traffic inside the building. All customers will exit via the main entryway at the front of the building leading to the parking lot. There will be a limit of one person per transaction.

“Customers are encouraged to call ahead to ensure that they have all necessary paperwork in hand before visiting the office,” the release said. “Customers who do not have all required documents will be asked to leave and come back when they have everything required to complete their transaction. Upon their return they will have to go through the line again.”
