Three small summer houses on Notched Pond in Raymond were consumed by fire on Wednesday afternoon, drawing firefighters from several departments who declared the buildings a total loss.

The Raymond Fire Department received a call about a fire in one camp on Notched Pond Road at around 1:48 p.m. that soon spread to two others. The properties had two different owners, and one had a boathouse, Deputy Fire Chief Cathy Gosselin said.

“We shuttled water in and knocked down the fires, but unfortunately were unable to save the buildings,” Gosselin said. She said the cause of the fires was unknown and the Office of the Maine Fire Marshal was investigating.

Firefighters from Gray, Raymond, Poland, Cumberland, New Gloucester, Windham, Casco and North Yarmouth responded. The fires were knocked down around 3 p.m., and departments had cleared the scene by 6 p.m.
