Stephanie Worcester won the Maine USA title on Sunday and will represent the state next winter in the nationally televised USA beauty pageant. Worcester, a Lewiston native whose family moved to Winthrop four years ago, said she entered the pageant not for the accolades she is bound to receive or by her physical appearance, but for the good work she can do for people in her community. The goal she will try to achieve in her lifetime is to help people out,” Worcester said. “I want to be a happy and successful person, want to be married someday but my goal is to have a real, happy, and fulfilling life” Worcester said. She plans to stay in Maine because she loves the state and not just Lewiston. In fact, she loves the city so much that after her family moved, she commuted the last three years to Lewiston High School so she could earn an LHS diploma. Now a University of Maine at Farmington sophomore, Worcester is majoring in elementary education and hopes one day to teach language arts.
